Nestled in the heart of Ann Arbor, Zingerman's Roadhouse stands out as a vibrant American restaurant that masterfully blends rustic charm with bold, comforting flavors. From the moment you step through its welcoming doors at 2501 Jackson Ave, you're enveloped in an atmosphere that feels both lively and inviting—perfect for everything from casual lunches to celebratory dinners.
Zingerman’s cuisine is a rich tapestry of classic American favorites and Southern-inspired delights, all executed with an unmistakable passion for quality and tradition. The highlight of the menu, Zingerman's Famous Corned Beef Hash, is a hearty, savory masterpiece that sings with layers of tender beef and perfectly seasoned potatoes. For barbecue lovers, the Pulled Pork offers a smoky, melt-in-your-mouth experience that embodies everything great BBQ should be. Vegetarian guests won’t want to miss the Roadhouse Macaroni & Cheese, a velvety, award-winning comfort dish that delivers creamy satisfaction with every bite.
On the side, the Sea Islands' Sweet Potato Fries are crispy and sweet, served alongside a spicy mayonnaise that customers rave about—an indulgent pairing that downright elevates the classic fry. For those craving fresh and briny ocean flavors, the East Coast Oyster Flight offers a remarkable selection that’s always fresh and expertly presented. And to round out the meal, the Salt and Pepper Shakers cocktail menu stands ready with the iconic Bloody Mary—vibrant, savory, and perfectly spiced, it’s a liquid embodiment of the Roadhouse’s heartfelt culinary spirit.
Breakfast at Zingerman’s Roadhouse carries on this tradition of thoughtful innovation and quality. Imagine starting your day with the Diez Y Uno Farmfresh scrambled eggs melded with Ig Vella's Monterey Jack cheese and Nueske's applewood-smoked bacon, all wrapped warmly together with a touch of New Mexico Hatch green chiles in a soft flour tortilla. It’s a flavorful journey that feels like a warm morning hug. Even the kid-friendly options hold their own delicious promise, ensuring the whole family leaves happy and full.
But what truly sets the Roadhouse apart is not just the food—though it is undeniably exceptional—it’s the palpable passion behind every dish and every guest interaction. Ben Harris perfectly captured this sentiment when he described his visit as “one of the best days of my adult life,” especially after meeting Ari himself, whose genuine warmth seems to infuse every plate. More than a meal, dining here is an experience soaked in care and authenticity.
Guests also appreciate the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff, like Lindsey Kozmiuk’s shout-out to server David, who made a delicious lunch feel effortless and special. Even solo diners find comfort here, as noted by Carol Lebold, who complimented the staff’s respectful attentiveness and their willingness to go the extra mile by packaging ice cream for her travels.
While the Roadhouse occasionally sees hiccups—like a missed salad or a burger cooked beyond requested doneness—the overall experience is consistently rich, comforting, and satisfying. It’s a place where enormous portions meet down-to-earth hospitality, and where every bite is imbued with a story layered in regional culinary heritage.
Whether you’re craving the soulful barbecue, the creamy mac-n-cheese, a cocktail that sings, or a breakfast burrito that feels like home, Zingerman’s Roadhouse promises a meal that resonates with warmth, bold flavors, and a true sense of place. It’s more than just dining; it’s an inviting celebration of American comfort food done with heartfelt excellence.
Today was truly one of the best days of my adult life! After waiting 20 years, I finally had the chance to fulfill one of my biggest food dreams — visiting Zingerman’s Roadhouse. To make it even more special, I had the incredible honor of meeting Ari himself. What a genuine delight! His warmth and personality shine through every dish on the menu — you can literally taste the passion and care in each bite. I indulged in the fried chicken, mac & cheese, and mashed potatoes with the best chicken gravy I’ve ever had in my life — pure American comfort food at its absolute best. Every bite felt like home. And then came dessert — the butterscotch pudding. Creamy, rich, and downright soul-satisfying. It was the perfect finish to an unforgettable meal. Ari, your restaurant is a true gem, and you are an even greater person. Thank you for taking the time to sign my “Zingerman’s Guide to Good Eating” book and for creating a place where food, people, and passion come together so naturally. Your team reflects your spirit — friendly, creative, and authentically kind. I will absolutely fly across the country again just to experience this meal and that feeling all over again.
My friend and I ordered burgers (2 different kinds) and they were great! The cook was a little off. They were cooked more well done than medium-well. My friend enjoyed her chili. I ordered a salad, but never got it. I asked my friend if it was on the bill, but she paid it and didn't recall. No biggie.. Just odd. We took dessert to go. She commented that the cheesecake was very small for $14/slice. The only thing I find odd is that the dessert I ordered was the mini Cannoli. What I got (see pic) is NOT a Cannoli! It is a hard attempt at an eclair at best. Service was decent. Oberon was nice and cold. The bugs in the dining area were a nuisance. Thanks!
The food was delicious and arrived in adequate time. Enormous portions that provide you a 2nd or more meal! I ordered the black bean & hominy vegan burger with a side of sweet potato fries. The spicy mayonnaise accompanying the fries is divine. Service was decent. Our waitress checked back at opportune times. Although I will say - even better service was provided us from an older silver haired gentleman - super knowledgeable staff member - who passed us several times and always asked if we needed anything. He suggested a barbecue sauce when my husband told him his pulled pork was too spicy. I believe he was one of owners? We came to have celebratory dinner for my husband and my son. Their birthdays are days a part and this is the place they chose. We were, at one point, jamming to a Ray Charles song - perfect for my baby boomer hubby and me as I was tiring of the rock music up to that point. This locale feels to more a burger, chicken place with American fare specialties. I’m a light fare lady so desire more variety of salads and seafood. Although heavier than what I’m accustomed to, I appreciate the abundance & friendly service. Beware it is pricey here! Be prepared to drop $40/pp incl beverage not including dessert.
My husband and I had a delicious lunch today. I want to give a special mention of our server, David who was exceptional. Thank you Zingermans! The meat was savory, the greens were mouthwatering, and the potatoes were whipped to perfection.
Very much what I had heard re. Food. Good basic fare. Great kale salad. Mac n cheese is award winning. Bbq ok.. My server was amazingly helpful but also gave me time to myself. Easy for solo diner to be happy here. And the caramel pudding is outstanding! I also wanted to bring pawpaw icecream home and staff went well above and beyond to pack it up in ice so I could travel with it. Thanks guys!!
Great energetic atmosphere. The staff was wonderful and the food was delicious! I ordered the fried chicken, mashed potatoes and braised greens, which was phenomenal! Also, their house made hot sauce is really amazing! The bread pudding was uniquely created in a loaf style slice with raspberry sauce which I thought was a cool presentation but a little dry for my taste. Overall, great experience and food!
Friendly waitstaff, quick service, and great food! This was my first visit, and everyone seemed excited to show me around and answer questions I had on Zingerman's Roadhouse. Greg, our waiter, was prompt and courteous as well, and made great suggestions on menu items, all of which were enjoyable. The overall atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, with lots of seating areas.
